fix: network-share readers, model unload off the loop, bad save requests (#620)
Every read-only SQLite open now uses one URI helper, so a library on a Windows network share works in backups, restores, moves and history reads. Unloading a model no longer blocks the server. A malformed /save body gets a 400, not a 500. |

feat(thumbnails): choose where thumbnails are kept and move them (#320) (#592)
* refactor(thumbnails): one resolver for where previews live on disk (#320) Add py/api/preview_store.py: the store of a source, a preview's path, URL parts to disk, containment (owns), a write generation and the lock around every preview's final rename. Every preview reader, writer and remover now asks it instead of joining <source>/thumbnails by hand: serve, on-demand, capture (its path resolved when the write starts), the after-scan queue, the thumbnail plans and job payloads, clear, the temp sweep, History covers, the auto-tag listing and the owned-preview lookups. Source mode only: every path is the one built before, so nothing changes on disk or on the wire. A structural test keeps new thumbnails joins out of the backend. * refactor(thumbnails): keep the after-scan queue's store rule and pin the write lock (#320) A planned target keeps the plan's own containment rule (inside the store, as the thumbnail job writes it); captures keep the serve rule. The structural test also covers PREVIEW_FOLDER joins and the repo-root modules; the write-lock test asserts the lock instead of waiting on a timer; new tests cover nested roots in the after-scan queue and a legacy upper-case preview served through the resolver. * feat(thumbnails): keep previews in one folder, set from config.json (#320) thumbnails.location in config.json can now name one folder for every source's previews: <folder>/<source key>/<rel>_thumb<ext>. A source key is a readable slug plus a short hash of the source's identity, stored in the folder's marker (.promptmanager-thumbnails.json) with the install that made it. Serving, on-demand and capture writes, listings, clear, delete, duplicates, the temp sweep and History covers all follow it; a leftover in <source>/thumbnails is never served and other text under thumbnails/ is refused. A missing, unplugged or foreign folder is unavailable (a probe checks it every 5 s within 2 s; a stalled or failing store call flips it at once): originals are served, nothing is written anywhere, the folder is never re-created, and generate, convert and clear answer 409 location-unavailable. A bad config value is unavailable too, never a fall-back to the sources. No UI yet: POST /settings refuses thumbnail_location (409 location-needs-move); GET /settings reports it with its path, the thumbnail status without one. Sources inside or around the folder and a library move into it are refused. * fix(thumbnails): never follow a marker or a link out of the thumbnail folder (#320) Marker keys are data, not paths: only a single <slug>-<hex> folder name is ever joined onto the thumbnail folder; anything else is dropped and logged. Every preview write and delete passes one ownership check (below a key folder, lexically and resolved, no link, junction or reparse point on the way); make_parent refuses anything else and writes nothing while the folder lacks this install's marker (an unmounted mount point). Clear never descends into a junction. The configured location is in force before any request (unchecked folder mode is unavailable), and a startup check that fails leaves it invalid, never the sources. Older listings that run on the event loop no longer touch the store in folder mode. A leftover under another case of thumbnails/ on a case-insensitive disk is refused too. * test(memory): let the musl test fake os.confstr on Windows (#523) The portability run on main fails since #523: Windows has no os.confstr, so patching it without create=True raises before the test runs. * feat(thumbnails): move thumbnails between the sources and one folder (#320) POST /images/thumbnails/plan reviews a move (what is copied, removed and left, free space, too-long Windows paths, sources no longer listed) and hands out a token; POST /jobs/thumbnails {mode: move} runs it as a thumbnails job: hold automatic previews, copy and check every preview on the job pool, switch with one config commit that records the old copies, then remove them. Per-file errors still switch; a folder-wide error, a cancel before the switch or a crash leaves nothing changed (a journal is undone at the next start); old copies that could not go are removed by a finishing job at the next start. Leaving a folder removes the previews of this install's sources that are no longer listed (Q320-8). Recreate folder and Use this folder answer an unavailable folder; the Thumbnail maintenance scope prune removes the thumbnails of removed sources. * feat(system): choose where thumbnails are kept and move them (#320) System › Sources & scans gains the Thumbnail location row (D196): Inside each source or One folder, the folder path, the status line and Review move…, whose review (D197) lists what is copied, removed and left before Move thumbnails starts; a refused folder is explained under the field, a folder of your own asks for a confirmation first. Activity shows a move and a prune with their own tiles and step line (D198). An unavailable folder shows a notice on Overview and Sources & scans with Recreate folder or Use this folder (D199). Thumbnail maintenance offers Remove thumbnails of removed sources in folder mode (D200), and Move library's review says where the thumbnails stay (D201). Closes #320 * fix(thumbnails): keep a move's own previews and never walk out of a store (#320) A cleanup that waited from an earlier move never names a key folder the new move just filled, so moving back keeps the previews. Removing empty folders walks top-down and never into a link or junction. Any error while copying undoes the copies; once the switch is committed, a journal that cannot be removed no longer undoes it. Hand-edited cleanup entries and marker keys never name a folder outside the stores; removal stops at interpreter exit. The path field carries aria-invalid with its reason, and a review that went stale reviews again. * test(thumbnails): cover the prune scope, the Overview notice and the space refusal (#320) The frontend coverage gate counted the new branches of thumbnail maintenance, the Activity views, the notices' Change location and the api-client's space refusal as uncovered; page and unit tests now drive them. * fix(thumbnails): report removals that fail and explain the quiet excepts (#320) An old thumbnail the finishing move cannot remove (held open on Windows) is now an error row of the job with its path, and logged; a failed copy's temp that cannot go is logged with its path. Every except that only passes says why, and the thread runners say their caller re-raises. * fix(thumbnails): never plan or delete through a linked key folder (#320) Review finding P1 on #591: in folder mode a source key folder that is a link or junction to a folder outside was still handed to the planner, so Convert outdated could remove an older-format file outside the thumbnail folder. ensure_store now refuses a linked store before any planning, and each removal of an old preview passes may_write at the moment it runs. * fix(thumbnails): the temp sweep never walks into a link (#320) Review finding P2 on #591: Clear thumbnails and the startup sweep removed crashed-write temps with a plain os.walk, which on Windows walks into a junction even without followlinks. The sweeper now skips a folder that is a link, junction or reparse point (the top one too), and each temp passes may_write before it is removed. * fix(thumbnails): lock the folder marker across processes (#320) Review finding P2 on #591: two installs sharing one thumbnail folder could each read the marker, add a key and replace it, so the last writer dropped the other's key. write_marker now re-reads, changes and replaces the marker under a lock file made with O_CREAT | O_EXCL beside it (atomic on shares, unlike flock); a lock older than 30 s, left by a writer that died, is taken over, and a wait past 1.5 s fails as a TimeoutError like an unreachable folder. Tested with three processes adding keys at once. * test(thumbnails): cover the space refusal, Overview's Use this folder and the prune review (#320) The frontend coverage floors of activity-kinds, system-overview and thumbnail-review: a disk without the space shows the review but cannot move (a fixture route fakes the free space), Use this folder on Overview reloads the host values, the prune review's text and rows are pure functions with unit tests, and Overview takes the System drafts it is always mounted with. * fix(thumbnails): never copy through a linked folder; refuse a target inside the folder in use (#320) Moving back to Inside each source followed an existing linked folder in the destination and could replace a file outside the source (Codex P1). A target nested inside the thumbnail folder in use was accepted, and the old-copy cleanup then removed the previews just copied there (Codex P2). Every copy now checks the whole destination chain for links, also when the folders exist, and the move refuses a folder inside the one in use with location-inside-current. The cancelled branches no longer mix explicit and implicit returns (code-quality note). * fix(system): one full stop in the move-back review (#320) * fix(thumbnails): a folder check answers for the folder as it is now (#320) Probe.check() joined a check already running, or a finished one nobody had collected. A folder deleted right after configure() woke the probe therefore stayed available until the next probe, which failed the Overview notice spec in the merge queue. It now waits for a running check and starts a new one, still never two at once, and a stuck check still times out. The spec also asserts the fixture's removal took effect. |

fix(quality): sweep the Code Quality standard findings (#558)
* fix(quality): preserve cursor iteration and option validation Keep prefetched rows on ManagedCursor so partial loops and explicit fetches share one position, and stop existing iterators after close or retirement. Preserve chunked reads and native SQLite result lifetime on reexecution and errors. Catch OptionError before ValueError so legacy auto-tag requests receive the actual validation error. Remove the overwritten ViewerJS title option. Regression tests failed before the fixes for lost rows, reads after close/retirement, and misleading option errors. Focused Python checks pass; cursor checks also pass on Python 3.13 and 3.14. Refs #321. * fix(quality): make the test doubles legal raises and hashes The fake queue no longer raises an attribute that starts as None. The oversized kind records hashes instead of raising from __hash__, which also catches a hash that production code swallows. Hostile.__bool__ raises the TypeError a truth test may raise. * fix(quality): drop the extra saveCoverage argument * refactor(quality): remove assignments that are overwritten before use * refactor(quality): remove the remaining overwritten test assignments * refactor(quality): drop imports repeated inside functions * refactor(quality): give duplicate identity keys one shape * refactor(quality): name the unused job event loop variable * refactor(quality): release model gates in finally, not except BaseException * refactor(quality): end the job runners with an explicit return * refactor(quality): use the precise unittest asserts * refactor(quality): import unittest.mock one way in the tests * fix(quality): say why each empty except is safe, log the broad ones * refactor(quality): stop binding values the tests never read * refactor(quality): remove the unused preview aliases and tag page query * refactor(quality): remove re-exports nothing imports * refactor(quality): parenthesize deliberate string joins in lists * refactor(quality): remove unused JavaScript variables and imports * refactor(quality): use the precise assert in the model status test |

fix(workspace): keep open pages valid across a restart and recover a changed source (#430) (#434)
The gallery root scope and the Images listing cursor were keyed with a per-process random key, so every ComfyUI restart made an open tab's scopes answer 409 source-changed (blank Tag image preview, a Generate that did nothing) and its cursors fail Load more. - utils/workspace_keys.py: one random secret in workspace-scope.key beside the database (owner-only, never config.json or the database), two derived keys; per-process fallback with a warning. Move library copies it. - Cursor v2 binds the listing scope in its MAC instead of sending an unkeyed hash of the root paths; an unverifiable cursor answers 400 cursor-stale and Images offers Refresh instead of a dead Retry. - POST /prompt_manager/images/rescope maps a stale target to its current root only when the held scope was issued for it. - Images finds a renumbered file again from the inspector, the viewer and the Tag image dialog (the dialog stays open, draft kept); nothing else is kept by an old root_index:path key. - Tag image dialog: a state that blocks Save shows its reason above the actions with Refresh, disabled actions look disabled, and an empty preview says "Preview unavailable" (D147). |

fix(system): never close another thread's library connection during a switch (#321)
* fix(system): never close another thread's library connection during a switch Move library closed every thread's old connection from the mover thread, including one whose owner was inside a statement waiting for the old file's write lock. Closing a sqlite3 connection under a running sqlite3_step is a use-after-free: Windows CI died with "access violation" in record_prompt_use, and on Linux the writer got a MemoryError once its busy timeout ran out. Managed connections now count the calls their owner is inside. Retiring one from another thread closes it at once only when idle; otherwise it is interrupted (sqlite3_interrupt is thread-safe) and its owner closes it as the call ends. A retired connection refuses new work and never commits, so a write that waited for the lock is rolled back and survive_library_switch runs it again on the new library. The mover retires connections while it holds the locks and waits for the owners to close them only after releasing them, before the old files are renamed or a failed copy is removed. Cursors are closed before the connection so Python 3.10/3.11 release the file handle too. * test(tagging): wait for in-flight pages before reading the loaded range The scroll-position test read the loaded count right after scrolling the continuation out of view, while a listing page the continuation had already requested could still be in flight. When it landed the count grew (80 -> 120 in CI) and the stability poll failed. The test now waits a frame for any scheduled load to start and then for every listing request to finish before it reads the count. * fix(system): make retiring a library connection race-free and cheap Review round for the cross-thread close fix: - cursor() now records its cursor under the lock _close_now copies the cursor set under, and refuses once the connection is retired; a cursor opened while the connection closed raised "Set changed size during iteration" out of retire() on Python 3.10-3.12. retire() never raises, retire_connections keeps going when one connection fails, and the mover never reports a completed switch as failed because retiring or awaiting old connections did. - The restore's backup target is marked in use (ManagedConnection.using), and in_transaction and create_function are guarded. - Iterating a cursor marks the connection in use once per fetchmany(128) chunk instead of once per row: a 1000-row scan costs 1.10x a plain cursor instead of 2.7x (3.14) / 3.8x (3.10). - Document what an interrupt does not end, the statements a retired connection cannot hold back, close() from another thread returning before the file is closed, and the await timeout ending as old-in-use. |

feat(system): keep the library in ComfyUI's user folder (#318)
* feat(system): resolve every library path in one place utils/library_location.py decides where the library lives: the PROMPT_MANAGER_DATA_DIR folder (validated: absolute, never inside a folder ComfyUI or Prompt Manager serves), an explicit database.default_path as before, a node-folder library that was not moved, else ComfyUI's user/__promptmanager. The database, diagnostics, config.json, logs and the LoRA image cache all ask it, so a new install never writes into the node folder and an existing one keeps every path until the user moves it. "Keep it here" is persisted as library.keep_in_node_folder. * feat(system): move the library as a verified Activity job POST /prompt_manager/system/library/move starts "Move library", an exclusive, non-cancellable job (database/library_move.py). It checks the target volume's free space, copies the database with SQLite's backup API from one read snapshot, verifies the copy (integrity check, every workflow document, the same rows in every table), copies the safety and pre-migration backups and config.json (owner-only, checked by size and SHA-256), then publishes under the old file's write lock and switches the live process (every PromptModel, the review and history observers, the API's plans and health report). The old prompts.db and config.json are renamed *.moved-to-<folder> only after the switch. A failure removes everything it wrote and leaves the old library in use; a marker in the new folder makes a restart after any crash pick the right library. GET /prompt_manager/system/library and the Overview's "location" say where the library lives and why; POST .../keep persists "Keep it here". * feat(system): show where the library lives and offer the move D129. System > Overview's Library health gains a "Library location" row (the database path, why it is there, the "Keep it here" choice and any PROMPT_MANAGER_DATA_DIR problem) with Move library for a node-folder library and Details otherwise. While a node-folder library is not kept there, the workspace shows the concept's .notice above every page: "Keep it here" saves the choice on the server and stops the notice; "Move library" opens the shared review (From, To, Size, what moves, what happens to the old files) and starts the exclusive job in Activity. The notice and the Overview read the location again when the job ends. The Overview comparison maps the inserted row; a new comparison holds the notice to the concept's Sources notice (markup, tokens, alignment, both themes and widths) with a mutation check. * feat(system): close the browser server's log files before its root goes The logs now live in the library's data folder, which for the browser test server is <root>/user/__promptmanager; Windows could not remove the temp root while the server still held prompt_manager.log open. The API test's node folder is spelled in lower case because public paths are case-folded on Windows. * feat(system): show the library location on the legacy admin page A line under the admin page's statistics names the database path and why it is there (ComfyUI's user folder, PROMPT_MANAGER_DATA_DIR, config.json, or the node folder with a pointer to Move library), read once from GET /prompt_manager/system/library. * feat(system): prove a fresh host keeps its library in user/__promptmanager The execution suite starts one pinned CPU ComfyUI with no configuration at all on an OS-chosen port: the library is created in user/__promptmanager (database and logs), nothing but byte code is added to the node folder, the location route reports the default folder, and ComfyUI's /userdata API serves none of it (traversal spellings, a listing, a system-user header). * feat(system): document where the library lives and how it moves README: where the library lives, the upgrade path (Move library / Keep it here), PROMPT_MANAGER_DATA_DIR, explicit paths unchanged, and the way back to an older version. TESTING.md: D129 and the library location contract (resolution order, move steps, crash windows, coded refusals, Windows handling). * wip(system): library move fix round in progress * fix(system): retry a fallback image link that races the library switch The image monitor's fallback and recent-prompt links went through PromptDatabase.link_image_to_prompt, which logs and returns 0 on any error, so survive_switch never saw a "database is locked" or closed connection during Move library and the link was lost in both files. The monitor now links through link_image_to_prompt_or_raise (one transaction per attempt); link_image_to_prompt keeps its log-and-return-0 contract for other callers. A link that returns 0 is no longer logged as "Successfully linked image 0". A switch that fails after repointing the models now closes the old file's detached connections instead of leaving them to GC: switch() adds them to a list the mover owns. The mocked retry test is replaced by a real-lock race asserting the image row lands in the new library only. * fix(system): say which source is the default and where a symlinked library lives Sources & scans: with no source configured, ComfyUI's output folder now reads "ComfyUI/output · watching · default" on its own row instead of a separate note line. GET /settings marks each effective source with in_comfyui (its public path is relative to the ComfyUI base) so only those get the "ComfyUI/" prefix; the scan still sends the server's public path. Library location: a library in the node folder reads through the node folder's unresolved place in custom_nodes, so a node folder symlinked to a checkout outside ComfyUI shows custom_nodes/promptmanager/prompts.db instead of prompts.db (System library row, Move review, admin Library line). Never absolute or "..", else the shared _public_path, which sources and jobs keep using unchanged. |
