YAML Wildcard Guide

YAML files let you define named entries with multiple prompt variations, tags for selection, and optional prefix/suffix injection. They complement .txt wildcards for content that benefits from categorization or structured randomization.

File Structure

YAML files go anywhere inside the wildcards/ folder. They are all loaded automatically on startup.

Entry Name:
  Prompts:
    - 'prompt variation 1'
    - 'prompt variation 2'
  Tags:
    - Tag1
    - Tag2
  Prefix:
    - 'text prepended to the start of the final prompt'
  Suffix:
    - 'text appended to the end of the final prompt'

Fields:

  • Prompts — one is picked at random and inserted at the position of the tag reference
  • Tags — used for <[Tag]> selection; case-insensitive
  • Prefix (optional) — injected at the very start of the final output
  • Suffix (optional) — injected at the very end of the final output
  • If Prefix/Suffix are unused, set them to - '' or omit the key entirely

When an entry is selected, the node randomly chooses whether to use a Prompt, Prefix, or Suffix from that entry. Prefix and Suffix don't appear at the tag position — they accumulate and are glued on after all wildcards are resolved.

Tag-Based Selection

Single tag

<[Pose]>

Picks any YAML entry that has Pose in its Tags list.

AND — both tags must be present

<[Upright Pose][Solo]>

OR — any of the listed tags

<[Hat|Crown|Headband]>

Combined AND + OR

<[Outfit][Fancy|Formal]>

Entry must have Outfit AND either Fancy or Formal.

Any number of [tag] groups can be chained.

Direct Title Reference

YAML entries can be matched by exact title. This is most useful combined with {} randomization:

breast_sizes.yaml (located in wildcards/Body/):

a-size:
  Prompts:
    - 'small breasts'
    - 'flat chest'
  Tags:
    - Breast Size
    - Small

b-size:
  Prompts:
    - 'small breasts'
  Tags:
    - Breast Size
    - Small

Prompt:

girl, {a|b|c|d|e|f|g}-size, smiling

Process:

  1. {} picks a letter, e.g. d
  2. d-size appears in the text
  3. Node finds the YAML entry titled d-size
  4. Replaces it with a random Prompt from that entry

Curly Brace Randomization with YAML

You can nest tag selections inside {}:

{<[Upright Pose]>|<[Active Pose]>}

Randomly chooses which tag group to resolve, then resolves it.

Complete Examples

Character with pose and outfit

masterpiece, best quality, __Prompt/score__, __Prompt/safety__, 1girl,
__characters/Series Girls/Vocaloid FEM__, __Art/Artist Names__,
{a|b|c|d|e|f|g}-size, <[Pose]>, __Clothing and Gear/Fullbody Outfits for Girls__

Pose with tag filters

1girl, <[Active Pose]>, <[Hand Pose]>, smiling, outdoors

Selects one entry tagged Active Pose and one tagged Hand Pose independently.

Prefix/Suffix in action

Given this YAML entry:

Fancy Hat:
  Prompts:
    - 'wearing an elegant top hat'
    - 'wearing a fancy fedora'
  Tags:
    - Hat
    - Headwear
    - Fancy
  Prefix:
    - 'dressed elegantly'
  Suffix:
    - 'looking sophisticated'

Prompt:

1girl, smiling, <[Hat][Fancy]>, red blouse

Possible outputs depending on which field is chosen:

# Prompt selected:
1girl, smiling, wearing an elegant top hat, red blouse

# Prefix selected:
dressed elegantly, 1girl, smiling, red blouse

# Suffix selected:
1girl, smiling, red blouse, looking sophisticated

Writing Your Own YAML Files

My Entry:
  Prompts:
    - 'your prompt text'
    - 'alternate variation'
  Tags:
    - Category
    - Descriptor
  Prefix:
    - ''
  Suffix:
    - ''

Tips:

  • Tags are case-insensitive — Hat, hat, and HAT all match <[Hat]>
  • Prompts can contain __wildcards__, {}, and <[tags]> — they expand recursively
  • Multiple Prompts add variety; the node picks one at random
  • Empty Prefix/Suffix: use - '' or just omit the key
  • Place files in the content-relevant subfolder (Body/, Poses-Locations/, etc.)

Current YAML files

File Location Content
Poses.yaml Poses-Locations/ Full pose library — upright, active, arm, hand, leg, unified poses
sex-poses.yaml Poses-Locations/ Adult pose library with tag system
breast_sizes.yaml Body/ a-size through k-size with tag tiers
award-photo.yaml Art/ Photography style entries

Advanced: Nested Wildcards Inside YAML

YAML prompts can reference other wildcards. They are expanded in the same recursive pass:

Dynamic Character:
  Prompts:
    - '__Body/FE-Hair__, __Body/GirlExpressions__, __Clothing and Gear/Fullbody Outfits for Girls__'
    - 'wearing {casual|formal|fantasy} attire, <[Pose]>'
  Tags:
    - Character
    - Dynamic

When this entry is selected, all __, {}, and <[]> inside the prompt string are fully expanded.
